DAU

DAU

Its not just gold.
Its better.

DAU inherits the attributes of gold - a material whose value has been recognised for millennia, and leverages blockchain technology to create a secure, cost efficient, and reliable medium of exchange.

DAU: Our Gold

DuBois offers digital title to gold through two products, DAU and KBAR. Each product serves as digital proof that the holder owns a physical gold kilobar stored and insured safely in independent Swiss vaults.

Comparing DAU and KBAR

While DAU and KBAR represent ownership to physical kilobars of Swiss gold, they each have different value propositions:

What is DAU (道)?

DAU is digital proof of co-ownership to a physical kilobar of Swiss gold.

DAU is fungible and can therefore be divided easily and transferred which may be useful for day-to-day transfers, and smaller holdings of gold.

What is KBAR?

KBAR is a digital certificate of title to a specific kilobar of Swiss gold.

KBARs are linked to their corresponding gold bar by their serial number, allowing holders to purchase specific brands or serial numbers of bars.

* No financialisation means genuine ownership of gold: This ensures that if every DAU and KBAR holder collects their gold at the same time, all of the gold is immediately available for collection from Swiss vaults.

How can physical gold be fungible?

01

Gold can be made fungible on the blockchain through the creation of digital tokens (DAU) that represent physical gold holdings. This is how title to the physical gold bars is recorded.

02

To ensure fungibility, each token represents a standard unit of gold with consistent quality and purity (1 kilogram of 9999 fineness Swiss gold).

03

Blockchain ledger records ownership and transactions of these tokens in a secure, transparent and immutable manner, ensuring that each token can be verified for authenticity and ownership.

04

Co-ownership to the kilobars is represented in fungible form, allowing them to be easily traded or transferred.

Mechanics of converting between DAU and KBAR

KBAR to DAU

KBAR can be converted to DAU through the following process:

DAU to KBAR

DAU can be converted back to KBAR through the following process:

01

The owner of the gold (holder of the KBAR) must first submit a request to DuBois, for the conversion of their KBAR to DAU.

02

Then, their KBAR must be transferred to their DuBois account.

03

DuBois' system will then transfer the KBAR to the Inactive KBARs Holding Address. This address contains all of the KBARs which are inactivated.

04

Simultaneously the KBAR's status is changed to "Inactive", and it is programmatically restricted from withdrawal from the address until it is reactivated. This status can be verified on third party blockchain explorers, such as Etherscan.

05

Only then can a unit of DAU be created and actively represent title to the kilobar of gold, and be transferred to the owner of the gold.
